Background

ICI Ltd. – a Real Estate developer company, bringing years of experience in all areas of engineering and construction. A multi-discipline contractor with above average self-performing capabilities and proven track record of delivering cost-saving services to their clients.
When ICI approached STABS, the remit was to create the design of their new corporate head offices; a Smart Workplace that has all building technologies integrated and connected, creating a showcase property development.

Uniqueness

Besides the design of general M&E services for the building, STABS proposed differentiating technologies for this workplace:

• On demand, occupancy and modulating lighting controls, maximising daylight harvesting
• Heating, Airconditioning and Ventilation (HVAC) operating when needed using best practices and the latest technology in building control systems to consume less energy
• Electrical and water metering – where usage data is collected onto a central billing system which allows for internal billing to the different business units
• Security systems (Access control, Intrusion detection and Video Surveillance systems) allowing cross-systems interaction, providing time and attendance monitoring of staff and building occupants

This provides both a comfortable place and high energy efficiency, as well as it enhances its occupants’ wellbeing. It had become a show case for ICI, allowing its clients to witness how different technologies and applications fit and are used within a workplace, differentiate their offerings from competition.

STABS were engaged to support the design with the Architects’ team at the very early stages of the project. This ensured the Client achieves more value from a cutting-edge design for this new building.
